National Parks Travelers Club
As we have been getting more and more into our new found hobby, I stumbled upon the National Parks Travelers Club. The Club is a non-profit club whose mission is promoting park visitation and providing fellowship and recognition for everyone interested in visiting the parks.
Seeing as we are hooked, we decided to join. We have only been members for a few days and are very impressed with the quality and magnitude of information the small membership fee ($10.00) brings. Being a Google Earth Pro trainer, I was very familiar with KMZ files. They offer a KMZ of all of the national parks to paid members. A KMZ is a file that can be imported into Google Earth (not to be confused with the web version google maps). This file can contain information on various locations. That being said the KMZ that National Parks Travelers Club provides is wonderful. See the image below for a zoomed out example of the KMZ imported into Google Earth. The membership also includes access to an Excel spreadsheet with a listing all stamping sites that is updated regularly.

A few days ago I saw a large, zippered notebook of info about all the national parks, at the Channel Islands visitors' center. $50. They only had the one, and it wasn't in celophane, so I didn't buy it. But the ranger told me of your club, and said you might have a link to a site where I could order it. (Couldn't find it on nps.gov.) It had a map of all the US sites, pockets to hold the brochures from each park, and descriptions of all the units.
Anyone know where I can get one?
You can purchase one at http://passport.eparks.com/store/
Very impressed with your site — especially the matching of NPS format. Just so Marty Bash and others know — the passport stamp program (including the larger Explorer Edition book for them that Marty was mentioning) is run by Eastern National, which operates most of the bookstores in the National Parks and turns 90 percent of the profit over to them, which is much better than other conessionaires.
Just wanted to say great job on designing your site! I love the look and feel similar to the NPS brochures.
I also wanted to comment on the NPTC. I've been an avid park visitor for many years and I also stamp my passport to mark my visit. I even started one of the original Websites back in the 90s to help people find a stamp for a given park. The thing I don't understand is the focus on the stamp itself and not the park. The whole club is focused on and rewards those who gather the most stamps. I just wish more people would go back to the origins of the program and focus on the sites and not the stamps.
Please enjoy your travels to the many corners of our country as you visit the different parks. I know I have!
